Margaritas Denver Residents Can’t Get Enough Of

Adelita’s

1294 S. Broadway, Denver, Colorado, 80210

  • Hours: 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m.-9 p.m. on Sunday
  • Price per person: $12-14
  • Reservation policy: First come, first served

Adelita’s has long been considered one of the best Mexican restaurants Denver, Co has to offer — so it’s no surprise that it also happens to have some of the best margaritas. That’s because it keeps it simple, opting for fresh ingredients (including house-made syrup) and perhaps most importantly, a heavy pour of good tequila. Whether you go with the basic house or the naranja fresco (which includes Madre Espadin, sour orange, cantaloupe, and orange bell peppers), you’ll probably be tempted to order another. Be sure to pair your margarita with the very delicious chips and salsa.

Mezcal

3230 E. Colfax Ave., Denver, Colorado, 80206

  • Hours: 11 a.m.-9 p.m. on Sunday and Monday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. on Tuesday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday
  • Price per person: $12-13 ($7 during happy hour)
  • Reservation policy: First come, first served

This East Colfax Mexican mainstay has both ambiance and margaritas Denver residents can’t get enough of — a winning combination if we ever saw one. The house and mezcal margaritas are plenty strong, and also have the perfect ratio of fresh ingredients. The pineapple coconut margarita, meanwhile, will be enough to intrigue your taste buds, and if you’re feeling fancy, the coin margarita is only a dollar more. They also pair perfectly with Mezcal’s street tacos, which are half-price on Tuesdays but are delicious every day of the week.

Uno Mas

1585 S. Pearl St., Denver, Colorado, 80210

  • Hours: 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
  • Price per person: $8-15
  • Reservation policy: First come, first served

This restaurant’s name is serendipitous as it’s probably what you’ll be saying when the wait staff asks you if you’d like another round of their delicious margaritas. This spot is especially clutch during happy hour, when you can snag $8 traditional margaritas every day from 2-8 p.m. Mezcal margs, meanwhile, are $9 every Wednesday.

Best Margaritas in the Northeast Denver Suburbs

Itacate Mexican Food

1006 W. 104th Ave., Denver, Colorado, 80234

  • Hours: 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m.-9:30 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m.-9 p.m. on  Sunday
  • Price per person: $8-15
  • Reservation policy: First come, first served

This old-school north Denver spot has a vague dive bar feel, but perhaps most importantly, it has good margaritas. The house is no frills, with just tequila, lime juice, and some simple syrup, but if you’re feeling like giving yourself an extra treat, definitely try the frozen watermelon margarita, which will make even the most miserable day feel like a beach vacation. For what it’s worth, this pairs perfectly with the ample variety of tacos on the menu.

La Casa Del Rey

7035 E. 72nd Ave., Commerce City, Colorado, 80022

  • Hours: 9 a.m.-8:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday
  • Price per person: $8-15
  • Reservation policy: First come, first served

Look, you can find a place with 25 fancy margaritas made from exotic tequilas, and there’s nothing wrong with that — but sometimes you just want a big, old-fashioned margarita at a divey Mexican restaurant that drenches their food in green chili. When it comes to this quintessential Denver comfort food experience, La Casa Del Rey more than delivers, with big and strong house margaritas, good service, and award-winning green chili that’s worth the trip to Commerce City alone.

Las Margs at Reunion

15550 E. 103rd Pl #112, Commerce City, Colorado, 80022

  • Hours: 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 11 a.m.-midnight on Friday, 9 p.m.-midnight on Saturday, and 9 a.m.-11 p.m. on Sunday
  • Price per person: $10-15
  • Reservation policy: First come, first served

Look, if the word “margs” is literally in the name of the restaurant, you can probably bet the margaritas are pretty darn good. And yes, this spot in Commerce City certainly delivers. The house margaritas are easy to drink and pack quite a punch, but there also happens to be numerous other options that combine quality tequila with unique flavors. Snag an organic margarita if you’re feeling healthy (because it has organic in the name), a Cadillac margarita if you feel like you need some Patron, or the Coronita margarita if you can’t decide between a margarita or a beer. No matter what, you’re guaranteed to have a great time and will have sampled a top margarita Denver has to offer.

Best Margaritas in the Northwest Denver Suburbs

Efrain’s of Boulder

2480 Canyon Blvd. Unit M1, Boulder, Colorado, 80302

  • Hours: 11 a.m.-8:30 p.m. Saturday through Thursday and 11 a.m.-9 p.m. on Friday
  • Price per person: $9-15
  • Reservation policy: First come, first served

This Boulder spot’s margaritas are a favorite because they combine two very important traits: plenty of tequila and tasting pretty darn good. While you can’t go wrong with the house, there’s a reason why “Boulder’s Best Margarita” has its name thanks to its combination of Patron tequila, Cointreau, and sweet and sour mix. The white lightning, shining, and ultimate margaritas are also worth the slightly more expensive price tag. The food at this Boulder Mexican restaurant is also excellent, whether you’re looking for traditional tacos or a green chili-drenched enchilada.

Pica’s Mexican Taqueria

901 Front St., Louisville, Colorado, 80027

  • Hours: 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 11 a.m.-8:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday
  • Price per person: $6-10
  • Reservation policy: First come, first served

This Boulder County mainstay’s legendary house margarita has already made a Wundervue list of top margaritas, and we would be remiss not to mention it again. What this spot lacks in a massive margarita menu, it makes up for doing the little things right, thanks to its affordable price point ($6 during happy hour is a steal!) and the fact it’s strong, but not so strong it feels like you’re drinking a cup of tequila. Be sure to pair it with one of this restaurant’s fantastic tacos, and bask in the fact that we live in a world where both Mexican food and margaritas exist.

Rumbo 52 Cocina & Cantina

3768 State Hwy 52, Longmont, CO 80504

  • Hours: 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m.-10 p.m. on Saturday, and 9 a.m.-9 p.m. on Sunday
  • Price per person: $10-15
  • Reservation policy: First come, first served

This hidden gem of a spot in Longmont is all about the good things in life: quality tequila and Mezcal, unique flavors, and good weeknight drink specials. On that last note, it’s worth mentioning that you can snag 2-1 margaritas here on Wednesdays. However, even at full price, you definitely won’t leave disappointed, thanks to the huge selection of different tequilas and mezcal and handcrafted flavors. Don’t sleep on the food either, thanks to the carnitas plates, selection of tacos, and very good pork green chili.

Best Margaritas in the South Denver Suburbs

Dos Santos

20 Wilcox St., Castle Rock, Colorado, 80104

  • Hours: 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m.-9 p.m. on Sunday
  • Price per person: From $12 for a house to $20 for the premium option
  • Reservation policy: First come, first served

If you’re looking for one of the best margaritas Denver residents keep coming back to, take a little road trip down Interstate 25 to Castle Rock. Here, you’ll find Dos Santos, which has a small but mighty margarita list that encourages its visitors to make their own customizations. You’ll be plenty satisfied with the house option, but you can also customize it by making it spicy or adding green chili, spicy passionfruit, blood orange, and hibiscus flavors. If you can’t choose, you can even snag a flight for $20.

Los Dos Portrillos

8251 S. Holly St., Centennial, Colorado, 80122

  • Hours: 9 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday
  • Price per person: $7 for a house margarita ($5 at happy hour) and $15 for the various specialty varieties
  • Reservation policy: First come, first served

As someone who developed her margarita palate while living in Centennial as a young adult, Los Dos Potrillos easily had the best margarita near me — and I still make the pilgrimage to its original county line location whenever I can to enjoy its wonders. It doesn’t hurt that Los Dos Potrillos also happens to be one of the best Mexican restaurants in Denver, Co. While you can’t go wrong with the basic house margarita, Los Dos makes it easy to sample its other flavors, thanks to the $29 flights and variety of other reasonably priced options. If you want to go big, snag a margarita tree so you can enjoy one of human’s most wondrous creations with your closest family and friends. And if you don’t have a designated driver, there are margaritas to go so you can enjoy them from the comfort of your own home.

The Rio Grande

9535 Park Meadows Dr., Lone Tree, Colorado, 80124

  • Hours: 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. on Thursday, and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday
  • Price per person: $10-14.50 (house and Big Tex margaritas are $2 off during happy hour)
  • Reservation policy: Reserve your spot online.

This restaurant (which has multiple locations in the area) has a margarita Denver residents are very, very aware of. The reason why? To start, these are quite strong (the three-margarita limit is a challenge that college students very much like to take on). More importantly, they are very delicious. If you’d like to expand your palate beyond the legendary Rio Classic margaritas, be sure to try the spicy fresh jalapeño variety, or sample top-shelf tequila with the special reserve coin. You’ll probably want to eat something to soak up these margaritas, and luckily, the Rio delivers, with scrumptious Mexican food Denver residents will very much be all about.

Best Margaritas in the West Denver Suburbs

Cencalli Taqueria

2389 Main St., Littleton, Colorado, 80120

  • Hours: 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 8 a.m.-10 p.m. on Saturday, and 8 a.m.-9 p.m. on Sunday
  • Price per person: $12-18 per margarita
  • Reservation policy: Seating is first-come, first-served

You know you’ve found a good spot when you find yourself actively scrolling through its margaritas to-go menu, and that’s exactly what happens when you visit the Cencalli Taquera website. That’s not just thanks to its ample selection (we counted 25 margaritas and 25 mezcalitas, respectively), but also just how delicious and creative the recipes are. Whether you end up ordering the creamy avocado margarita, blue mezcalita, or one of the numerous other flavors and options, you’re sure to have a fantastic evening (or lunch; we don’t judge here). A bonus? This downtown Littleton spot also has some of the best Mexican food Denver has to offer.

Lady Nomada

7167 W. Alaska Dr., Lakewood, Colorado, 80226

  • Hours: 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
  • Price per person: $6 at happy hour, $8-12 during regular hours
  • Reservation policy: Reservations are available online here.

This cozy spot in the shopping center that hails itself as downtown Lakewood happens to have the widest selection of margaritas Denver has to offer. To start, 3-5 p.m. Monday through Friday happy hour doesn’t just include the regular house marg (which reviewers say is quite strong and good, by the way), but also the spiced hibiscus, baja bliss, and Florida passion options — all of which are priced at a very affordable $6. If you can’t catch happy hour, you’ll still be delighted to see the plethora of options on the regular menu, which includes everything from frozen toasted coconut varieties to the calorie-conscious skinny recipe.

Teocalli Cocina

5770 Olde Wadsworth Blvd., Arvada, Colorado, 80002

  • Hours: 11:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11:30 a.m.-8 p.m. on Sunday
  • Price per person: House margaritas start at $8 per person ($6 at happy hour), with premium options ranging from $12-14
  • Reservation policy: Visitors can make reservations online.

West Denver area residents looking for the “best margarita near me” can’t go wrong with Teocalli Cocina. This Olde Town Arvada mainstay also happens to combine two of life’s very best things: reasonably priced margaritas and a wide selection of yummy tacos. At $8 ($6 during happy hour), the house margarita doesn’t disappoint, but if you’re looking for something a little bit more exotic, be sure to try the coin margarita with smoky Mezcal or the jalapeno-infused El Minero.
