Cutting Hair, Building Community
Both originally from Indiana, Melanie and Justin Albrecht have now been cutting hair for 15 years each. While Saint Vrain Barbershop is a new venture for the couple, this isn’t their first Denver-metro barbershop.
When the couple first moved to Colorado, they were living in Longmont and commuting to give haircuts and trims at Good Barbers, their shop in Boulder. The shop thrived for six years, but when the lease came up for renewal, the Albrechts couldn’t pass up the chance to work in their own community.
The Albrechts own a house in Longmont and hope that by opening Saint Vrain Barbershop in their adopted hometown, they can truly become an integral part of their community.
“We want more of a community, and we want to own a business in a place we truly love,” Melanie Albrecht said. “I want this business to help support other small businesses, which Longmont has tons of, and we want to give back to our community and provide some good haircuts.”
While the Albrechts’ desire to engage with their community means Saint Vrain Barbershop loves to show up at local events and boost other small businesses’ work, it also means the couple will be focused on making meaningful connections with their clients. They don’t just want Longmont residents to walk out with an incredible haircut or trim — they want to have a great conversation.
“We want everyone that walks through our doors to feel welcomed,” Melanie said. “We want to listen to your stories, take your advice, and recommend places we love around the area.”
Quality Cuts, Locally Owned
While both of the Albrechts are barbers, Melanie was originally a salon stylist until Justin got her interested in barbering. And delivering quality cuts isn’t their only talent. Melanie is a stained glass artist, while Justin practices hand-painted lettering.
Clients will see both mediums adorning the new Saint Vrain Barbershop. The couple is transforming their new-construction shop — once cold concrete and beams — into a cozy, welcoming space filled with mid-century decor, artwork, and plants.
But beyond the warm vibes and sharp cuts, why turn to Saint Vrain for your future Longmont-area haircuts? Simple: A local, community-focused shop that combines quality haircuts and styles with exceptional customer service and individual attention — a far cry from the chain shops and salons focused only on their bottom line and how many appointments they can cram into a day.
The Albrechts are the only two barbers on the floor, allowing the couple to focus on doing great work and building meaningful relationships rather than managing a larger crew.
“We want to build relationships with our customers,” Melanie said. “We have learned over the 15 years of doing this that barbering is more than just giving a good haircut.”
