If that makes you hungry, there’s plenty of food to enjoy, from brunch offerings on weekends to shareable plates in the evenings.

After a day of exploring Red Rocks and maybe knocking out a hike in the foothills, snag a spot at this rooftop patio to admire views of this historic college town as well as nearby South Table Mountain. A bonus? There’s really something for everyone, whether you want to try one of the 20 beers on the tap wall, a margarita, or everything from sushi to barbecue at one of the food vendors inside.

Whether you’re into catching the live music Wednesday through Saturdays or just cozying up at one of the fire pits and sipping a cocktail, you’re sure to have a fun night as you catch views encompassing everything from Longs to Pikes Peak.

Joyride Brewing Company

2501 Sheridan Blvd., Edgewater, Colorado, 80214

  • Hours: Noon to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, noon to 11 p.m. on Friday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday.
  • Best patio beer: Try their Ice Cutter Kolsch, a smooth lager that won gold at the 2022 World Beer Cup and silver at the 2019 Great American Beer Festival.

When it comes to rooftop bars in Denver, Co, it’s hard to beat the one at Joyride Brewing Company (even though it’s technically in Edgewater). Post up and watch runners and bikers exercise at Sloan’s Lake while you enjoy a nice beer instead. The view of downtown Denver is especially cool from this angle, and with an ample beer menu that includes everything from hard seltzers to very strong imperial stouts, there’s no reason not to call some friends and stay for a good portion of the day.

The ViewHouse

7101 S. Clinton St., Centennial, Colorado, 80112

With a name like The ViewHouse, there’s no surprise why this is one of the top rooftop bars in Denver. The restaurant has multiple locations, but the one off Interstate 25 in Centennial might be the best, thanks to its panoramic views of nearly the entire Front Range. Definitely plan your trip around the sunset (the happy hour deals make this a very enticing option), and stick around to see the bright lights of I-25 and the south suburbs.

West End Tavern

926 Pearl St., Boulder, Colorado, 80302

  • Happy hour: 3-6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. Deals include $6 shot and beer specials, $5 draft beers, and $6 sliders.

This might be a list of the best rooftop bars in Denver, but we’d be remiss not to include this classic in Boulder. The building that houses this restaurant began as an old police station back in 1906, and since 1987, it’s been home to a classic bar that’s attracted everything from the college crowd to Boulder locals. The rooftop bar has incredible views of Boulder’s Pearl Street and the Flatirons. Sample one (or three) of the 20 beers on tap, order some barbecue, and post up for one of the best sunsets around.
