So, you’re headed to Longmont to get the perfect haircut from the city’s newest barbershop. As luck would have it, you’re also headed to a haven for craft beer and bike trails, both of which can help you build the perfect day.

Saint Vrain Barbershop now offers traditional barber cuts and trims in the heart of Longmont, where owners Melanie and Justin Albrecht combine their passion for hair with their love for the city. But sharp haircuts aren’t Longmont’s only draw.

If you’re visiting Saint Vrain Barbershop for a trim, why not make a day of it? Here’s how to combine the three things Longmont does best — bikes, beers, and now, barbering — into one perfect afternoon.

Bike in Longmont

Before your haircut, take advantage of the network of bike trails in Longmont, many of which are paved and beginner-friendly. There are plenty of ways to build your own route using bits and pieces of Longmont’s bike trails, but check out these core trails first.

McIntosh Lake

3.5-mile loop

This family-friendly Longmont bike trail circles McIntosh Lake and offers a beautiful mountain view. The relatively flat trail is partly paved and partly gravel, making it perfect for any level of biker (especially since the loop only takes about an hour).

Longmont to Boulder (LOBO) Regional Trail

26.8 miles round-trip (12.9 miles one-way)

This low-intensity bike path connects Boulder and Longmont, giving you one way to get to and from your trim if you’re headed in from Boulder (and if you’re not that hardcore, it’s still a pleasant path to traverse partway). If you want to start at the Longmont trailhead, head to the Left Hand Greenway for access.

Longmont Loop

15.7-mile loop

Circle the entire city with the Longmont Loop, a route that incorporates paved trails, bike lanes, and sidewalks as it guides you around town.

St. Vrain Greenway Trail

8 miles one-way

This low-intensity trail is a great way to see Longmont. The path mostly follows the Saint Vrain River, passing by many of Longmont’s parks and local businesses. The trail also has built-in Longmont brewery access, with Left Hand Brewing Company and Shoes & Brews situated just off the Greenway. One note that may be of interest: Part of the trail no longer allows dogs.

If you’d rather bike Longmont by cycling around town instead of hitting a trail, check out the city’s handy interactive BikeMap to get a sense for Longmont’s streets, learn about any closures, and plan your route.

Sip in Longmont

After a long bike ride and a refreshing trim, there’s nothing more satisfying than a cold beer. And you’re in the right spot to scratch that itch — Longmont breweries are exceptional, award-winning, and downright fun.

We’ve already talked about the beloved Left Hand and Shoes & Brews, but there are a few more top Longmont breweries and taprooms you should keep in mind during your day out.

Bootstrap Brewing

This award-winning brewery matches every beer with a music pairing. It’s a great pick for the allergen-conscious, since Bootstrap’s beer is gluten-reduced and drinkable for many gluten-sensitive customers.

Wibby Brewing

Wibby — where brewers focus on sensational lagers — is an award-winning Longmont brewery with a full monthly schedule of events and cover bands.

300 Suns

This brewery is your ideal stop if you’re craving food with your brew. We’re not just talking about a bowl of peanuts — 300 Suns serves fried chicken, burgers, fries, cheese curds, salads, and more.

Großen Bart Brewery

With a name that means “big beard” in German, Großen Bart plays with the theme and references a facial hair style in every beer name. The brewery is pet- and family-friendly, with regular live music.

Oskar Blues Taproom & Brewery

The much-loved name in craft beer operates The Tasty Weasel Taproom in Longmont, where fans can find Oskar Blues beers on tap, weekly trivia, live music, and food trucks.

If you’d rather experience all the best breweries in Longmont in one go, consider the Brewhop Trolley, which takes riders to designated brewery, distillery, and cidery stops around the city as the trolley circles.

Regardless of how you select the specifics, you can’t go wrong with Saint Vrain Barbershop, a long bike ride, and a couple of brews in Longmont. Happy planning!
